The Night drive to Baobab Avenue<\/strong> series marks a formal and conceptual departure from the expansive high-fidelity works of Otherlands. Comprising twenty-one frames captured during nocturnal transit, the series utilizes a small-format camera and iPad, deliberately embracing technical limitations.<\/p>\n

This generates an impressionistic aesthetic of the journey. It functions as a phenomenological record of transit<\/strong>, a visual corollary to the half-awake consciousness of night travel.<\/p>\n

The series culminates in the final frames where the monumental forms of the baobab trees appear in the morning distance, marking the physical conclusion of the nocturnal passage. <\/p>\n

The artist’s technical intervention is crucial. The colors have been subjected to heavy post-production<\/strong>, manipulated to evoke the saturated grainy look of old analogue film pushed to its limits in low-light conditions-a deliberate echo of Kodak or Fujichrome 50 -100 ASA, with some frames suggesting the distinct aesthetic of 1970s Polaroid instant film.\u00a0<\/p>\n\t

This process transforms technical failure – the inherent noise and blur of the low-fidelity capture-into an expressive advantage, a highly atmospheric body of work that privileges subjective experience<\/strong> over objective clarity.<\/p>\n
