Tests and Experimental series explores the fragile and ambiguous nature of what we see. It depicts a messy room, a young man, and a dead bird, not as they truly are, but as a result of various experimental manipulations. Playing with negative images, varying exposures, and multiple duplications of individual photos results in complex patterns that dissolve the original image and recontextualize it.
The distinction between the original image and its abstraction becomes blurred, meaning that the image must be deciphered and guessed as well as seen. Some photographs are so distorted that what is depicted is barely recognizable. This encourages viewers to engage actively in the creative process, find their own interpretations, and consider the ambiguity of perception and memory.
Thus, the series reflects on the relationship between image, identity, and transience, presenting photography as a medium that transforms and questions as well as documenting.
